Get outside this winter in Beulah!
Winter’s chill doesn’t mean a slowdown in recreation activities – it just means you switch out your flip-flops for snow boots!
Feel like fish for supper? Hit any one of the many lakes around Beulah for excellent ice fishing. It’s as easy as drilling a hole in the ice, dropping your line and enjoying a brisk winter day. Spearfishing is another popular way to enjoy a winter day by waiting for that opportunity to catch a giant northern! Even if you don’t get one, the view of life below the ice is fantastic. Once the snow flies, outdoor enthusiasts set their sights on cross-country skiing. Riverside Park has groomed trails and skis can be rented from the Energy Wellness Center. Skiers can find current conditions at (701) 873-5852. Those seeking a little more vertical drop can head to Huff Hills Ski Area, located just south of Mandan approximately 17 miles. Huff Hills is the largest ski area in North Dakota, with a 450-foot vertical drop and 16 distinct runs.
Sometimes, the fun is above the ice, skating on the rink. Weather permitting, Prairie Hills Park offers free ice skating from dusk to dawn. There is room for all ages, whether participating in a pick-up hockey game, working on your figure skating routine or simply taking a few laps around the rink with family.
