Collaboration and community: Touch-A-Truck grows in size

For the last four years, Touch-A-Truck has been an active part of Hazen’s summer activities.
Each year, trucks of all shapes, sizes and colors line Hazen’s Main Street (and parts of 1st Ave. West), with kids and families having the opportunity to check them all out for themselves.

The only thing that changes from year to year is growth. Each year, there are more and more entries for participants and more and more families that come out to take it all in.

“It just got out of control without us knowing it this year,” Breanne Slavick said. “We are maxed out on our allotted space on Main Street.”
Slavick, owner of The Dash thrift store in downtown Hazen, is the lead organizer of Touch-A-Truck. But while the idea and vision for this mid-summer festival comes from her, it takes a lot of helpers, and a lot of support from other area businesses, to pull the event off.
