The Fall Harvest is an Exciting Time in Beulah, North Dakota

Fall has reached North Dakota, and the days are full of crisp, fresh air and family outings in cozy clothes. Beulah residents spend a lot of time outside during October, enjoying activities like pumpkin carving and corn mazes. This time of year also marks the fall harvest season, when farmers cull the crops they worked so hard to grow throughout the spring and summer.

Agriculture is a major industry in North Dakota, contributing $3.42 billion to the GDP in 2025. Each farm in Beulah and its surrounding communities supports this number, and the fall harvest ensures residents can pay their bills and feed their families.

North Dakota Leads the Nation in 13 Crops 

Agriculture is important to North Dakota – and North Dakota is important to American agricultural production. The state is first in the nation for 13 crops, and ranks in the top five for 27 different crops. A few essential items that the farmers in the state produce include:

• Beans, peas, and lentils 
• Canola, flaxseed, and sunflowers 
• Honey 
• Oats, wheat, and rye 
• Potatoes

Ranching is also a significant part of North Dakota's agricultural production. The state is home to 12,487 head of Bison (fourth in the nation) and 870,000 beef cows (eighth in the nation).

This all means there’s a lot to harvest in the fall. The crops need to be collected, processed, and shipped to food companies across the United States so they land on grocery store shelves in time for the holidays. 

Fall is a Great Time to Connect With Farmers
