News
Education is a top priority and as summer ends, school begins. Beulah School District #27 (BSD27) is a public school district with one elementary, middle, and high school. With last year’s enrollment totaling 748 students, each classroom maintained a 14:1 student-teacher ratio, less than the national average of 17:1.
Empower, Encourage, Engage
BSD27’s mission and philosophy is simple, “Provide educational opportunities that empower, encourage, and engage our students.”
Empower
Students see and feel local support as residents and businesses regularly partner with BSD27 through community events and initiatives while investing in school infrastructure and resources. Bonds are created and strengthened, helping BSD27 access modern facilities and learning tools.
BSD27 embraces students from diverse backgrounds, offering programs to nurture their potential.
Encourage
Beulah Elementary provides a strong foundation for young learners. Beulah Middle focuses on academic and personal development while being a 1:1 iPad school for better learning. Beulah High offers robust educational programs and, as of 2021, a Student Support Center for medical and mental health services.
Though not part of BSD27, Little People Preschool (PreK ages 3-5) is a nurturing environment for the youngest Beulah learners to get their educational start. Located on the campus of Beulah Elementary, Little People Preschool incorporates a rich array of activities to meet the varying needs while encouraging the children to participate, explore, learn, and grow.
Engage
At the end of the 2023-2024 school year, BSD27 maintained its rank in North Dakota’s top 5% of the highest graduation rate. This is only possible when teachers and parents connect with students and give them the best space to do the work by engaging with the education offered through homework, class assignments, field trips, and in-class Q&A.
While academia is a major engagement factor, many life lessons are taught through school sports. BSD27 offers the following sports per season:
- Fall - Cross Country, Boys Football, Girls Golf, and Girls Volleyball
- Winter - Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Boys Ice Hockey, and Boys Wrestling
- Spring - Baseball, Track, Boys Golf, and Girls Softball
With the 2024-2025 school year starting August 22, 2024, BSD27 has its August calendar full of ways for teachers, parents, and students to start the new year encouraged, empowered, and engaged.
Beulah Offers More
The City of Beulah supports BSD27 and offers additional ways to encourage, empower, and engage the youth:
- Beulah Parks and Recreation offers year-round sports with registration forms at the Energy Wellness Center
- There are a few days before school begins to engage in youthful fun at the Beulah Waterpark
- Beulah Public Library offers summer and winter reading programs, story hour, craft nights, teen game nights, and more
- Mercer County’s 4-H
- Girl Scouts
… and so much more. There is no shortage of education or educational opportunities. Beulah is dedicated to ensuring that children are well-equipped with a strong foundation as they grow and prepare for life after high school graduation.
